Polynucleotides

Polynucleotides Under the Eyes: What to Know

Dr Hana Aesthetics4 min read

The under-eye area is one of the most common concerns patients bring to a consultation. Polynucleotides are often discussed as an option. Here is what you should know.

Key Points

  • Polynucleotides are fragments of DNA extracted from salmon, sterilised, highly purified and injected into the skin.
  • Reduces dark circles under the eye is one of the results Dr Hana describes.
  • Results seen from 3 weeks, with best results 3 months following treatment.
  • We DO NOT offer filler treatment for tear trough (under the eye).

Why Is the Under-Eye Area Different?

The skin under the eyes is thinner and more delicate than skin elsewhere on the face, which is why tiredness, dark circles and fine lines often show there first. That is also why treatment needs care and a proper assessment.

What Are Polynucleotides?

Polynucleotides are a natural solution to ageing. They are fragments of DNA extracted from salmon, sterilised, highly purified and injected into the skin. They work at the cellular level to stimulate production of collagen and elastin.

What Results Can I Expect?

Results Dr Hana describes include fresher, plumper, brighter skin, improved fine lines and wrinkles, and reduced dark circles under the eye. Results seen from 3 weeks. Best results 3 months following treatment. Results vary from person to person.

What About Under-Eye Filler?

We DO NOT offer filler treatment for tear trough (under the eye) or the temples. Polynucleotides work differently, focusing on the quality of the skin rather than adding volume.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

This depends on the problem being addressed, the age of the patient, lifestyle and general health. Most people benefit from two sessions. Your doctor will discuss your treatment plan during your consultation.

How Much Does It Cost?

A single session of treatment is £250, a course of two sessions is £450 and a course of three sessions is £600.

Questions

Are Polynucleotides Suitable If I Am Allergic to Fish?

Polynucleotides come from salmon, so they are not suitable if you are allergic to fish. Please tell Dr Hana about any allergies at your consultation.

Is There Any Downtime?

Most people go back to work the same day. Small bumps and redness at the injection points are normal and usually settle within 1 to 2 days, and some bruising can happen, especially under the eye.

Do You Offer Tear Trough Filler?

No. We DO NOT offer filler treatment for tear trough (under the eye) or the temples.
