How Long Does Lip Filler Take to Settle? A Week-by-Week Guide

Dr Hana Aesthetics5 min read

It is normal for lips to look a little different in the first days after filler. Knowing what to expect makes the process far more relaxing. Here is a general guide to how lip filler settles, week by week.

Days 1 to 3: Swelling Is Normal

Some swelling, tenderness and possible bruising are common straight after treatment and are often most noticeable in the first day or two. Your lips may look fuller than the final result and can feel slightly firm or uneven while the swelling settles.

This is a normal part of the process, so try not to judge the result yet.

Days 4 to 7: Things Start to Calm Down

Swelling usually eases noticeably during the first week. Any bruising typically fades, and the shape of your lips becomes easier to see.

Week 2: The Filler Settles

By around two weeks, most of the swelling has gone and the filler has softened and settled into the tissue. This is when you can see the result much more clearly. Dr Hana will let you know when to come back if a review is needed, so any adjustments can be made.

How Long Does Lip Filler Last?

At Dr Hana Aesthetics, lips are treated with Juvederm Ultra or Restylane kysse, hyaluronic acid fillers used to add volume or contour the lips. These typically last 6 to 12 months.

Aftercare Tips

Every patient receives written aftercare from Dr Hana, and her advice always comes first. Typical advice after lip filler includes avoiding touching or pressing on the lips, strenuous exercise, saunas and alcohol for the first day or so.

If anything worries you after your treatment, contact the clinic. Call 0203 872 2403, and in an emergency call 999.
